What is a CSA?

CSA is the abbreviation for Community Supported Agriculture - away of connecting farmers to New Yorkers.  CSAs help to support family farms while providing urban and suburban neighborhoods access to high quality, locally-grown, affordable produce.

How Does the Lone Maple Farm Winter CSA Work?

During the open enrollment period, our farm sells shares in the farm's upcoming winter and spring harvest months to individuals, families, or institutions. The share price goes toward the cost of growing the crops during the winter months. It's a WIN for you, the customer, as you get fresh, locally grown items during the winter. It's a WIN for our farm as we can plan and plant exactly what to grow during the expensive heating months.

What is a Winter CSA share at Lone Maple Farm? 

Thank you to those of you who filled out our CSA survey...With your valuable input, we have strived to develop a program that provides the maximum benefit, ease of use, simplicity, and flexibility for our customers.

The winter CSA program runs from November 1, 2023 to April 13, 2024.   Although our retail farm market will not be open, customers can come pick up their weekly share on Fridays from 4pm to 6pm or Saturdays from 10am to 12pm at the farm market.  If those times don't work or things come up, we are flexible and can provide a custom pick up day and time.

Four Types to Choose from... 

1) FarmFreshMix

This option is for those who want only those crops we can grow during the winter and spring months.  These include: Apples, Beets, Broccoli, Cabbage, Carrots, Cauliflower, Celery, Cucumbers, Kale, Lettuce (Bibb, Green Leaf, Green Oak Leaf, Red Leaf, Iceberg, and Romaine), Microgreens (various flavors and herbs), Pears, Radishes, Scallions, and Squash (summer and winter).  We select the peak of the harvest each week (see quantities) below and provide a weekly rotation combination throughout the winter and spring.

2) FarmFreshMix & Bakery

This option includes the above plus bakery items from our scratch bakery.  These include donuts (plain, sugar, cinnanmon), breads (slicing white, Italian, and rye), cookies (chocolate chip, oatmeal raisin), and personal size pies (apple, strawberry rhubarb, and summerberry).

3) MyFreshChoices

This option is for those who want to specify exactly what they want each week from an expanded list of items sourced as local as possible.  This is a "Grow To Order" option in which we plant seeds specifically for you for the items you want each week.  In addition to the items we can grow, MyFreshChoices shareholders can choose from a more extensive list of fruits, vegetables, eggs, wines, canned items, and more all sourced as locally as possible.  After payment is received, we will send you a weekly availability list for you to choose what you want and when you want it.  Simply return that to us by November 1st and we will have the items you choose ready for you each week. (Note: If we don't received you item selection list by November 1st, the share reverts to the FarmFreshMix option.

4) MyFreshChoices & Bakery

Basic Share

Designed for couples and small households.  $12.46 worth of fresh goodies each week! Usually includes 3 or 4  vegetables and 1 type of fruit. Bakery options include one additional baked goods item.

FarmFreshMix Basic - $299 for 24 weeks

FarmFreshMix & Bakery Basic  - $449 for 24 weeks

MyFreshChoices Basic - $299 for 24 weeks

MyFreshChoices & Bakery  Basic - $449 for 24 weeks

Medium Share

Designed for small to medium sized families and small restaurants.  $22.88 worth of fresh goodies each week!  Usually 4 or 5 vegetables and  1or 2 types of fruit. Bakery options include one additional baked goods item.

FarmFreshMix Medium - $549 for 24 weeks

FarmFreshMix & Bakery Medium- $699 for 24 weeks

MyFreshChoices Medium - $549 for 24 weeks

Large Share

Designed for larger families and larger restaurants.  $33.29 worth of goodies each week!  Usually includes 8 or 9 vegetables and 2 or 3 types of fruit. Bakery options include one additional baked goods item.

Payment is by cash, check or Credit Card / PayPAL. Sign up is simple and available online from 9/1/23 to 10/31/23.

After you sign up, you will be emailed a link to print out your CSA Shareholder card. Bring this card with you each time you come to pick up your items.
